Trip of a Lifetime-Part I

While working in San Diego at a regional carrier, I forged friendships that would stand the test of time. Two buddies and I decided to embark on a thrilling adventure, first to Ibiza, and then to Pamplona for the Running of the Bulls. Thanks to our affiliation with a Legacy Carrier, we could offer buddy passes, so two colleagues from a Pacific Beach bar joined our escapade.

Our journey began with a flight from San Diego to Washington D.C., which was pleasantly uneventful. Subsequently, we hopped on a 747 from Houston to London Heathrow, experiencing the lavishness of business and first class. It was a different era back then, and the peculiar occurrence of one of our buddies securing a first-class seat with a buddy pass remains a mystery. We reveled in fine dining, flowing drinks, and even a memorable incident where a flight attendant ended up on someone's lap.

Upon landing at Heathrow in the early morning, we took a train to Stansted Airport. With a day to spare before our next flight, we checked our backpacks into lockers and eagerly ventured to a local pub. England held special meaning for me, as I spent much of my childhood there, my father being stationed at RAF Alconbury.  Yes, that is me in the knee high socks on the wing of a TR-1, or more commonly known as the U2 Dragon Lady. 

Our pub outing, at The Three Horsehoes quickly escalated into revelry, with laughter, drinks, a hearty meal, and eventually a collective snooze. One particularly amusing memory was my buddy, Ryan, and I dozing off on a pub couch, not spooning.  Peter and another buddy slept in the front yard.  The owners and locals, busy with their dinners, seemed unbothered by our impromptu siesta.

After regaining consciousness, we needed to find a place to sleep at the airport, a recurring theme throughout our trip. Eventually, we settled in chairs in the terminal, but an unexpected encounter added a humorous twist. A girl approached Peter, requesting his seat, and his grumpy "No!" response unleashed a wave of laughter as she stormed off calling the nicest guy in our group a “SHIT HOLE.”

Our next adventure awaited as we set our sights on Ibiza tomorrow.

 4. Manage stress: Stress can have a negative impact on digestion. Practice stress management techniques like deep breathing exercises, meditation, or engaging in activities you enjoy to help reduce stress levels. 

 5. Be mindful of portion sizes: Overeating can strain your digestive system. It's best to eat smaller, balanced meals throughout the day rather than consuming large portions in one sitting. 

 6. Regular physical activity: Exercise helps stimulate the muscles in your digestive tract, promoting regular bowel movements and reducing the risk of constipation. 

 7. Avoid trigger foods: Some individuals may have specific foods that trigger digestive issues like bloating, gas, or acid reflux. Pay attention to your body and try to identify and avoid these trigger foods. Remember, if you have persistent digestive issues or concerns, it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized advice.
