Spain-Part IV

After an incredible four days in Pamplona, our journey took an unexpected turn as we ventured into Southern France, showcasing our somewhat disorganized planning. Biarritz, nestled on the French Riviera, welcomed us with its charm. None of us were well-versed in French, except for Party Boy (Peter), who fluently spoke the language and skillfully navigated us to the right places and secured our hotel.

Surprisingly, Peter and Ryan had booked their flights from Biarritz back to London, though the details escaped my memory. The plan was to reunite in London for a couple of days before returning to the United States. However, the lack of prearranged accommodations once again caught up with us. Tasked with finding a hotel, I urged the others to check their emails while I took charge of the arrangements.

Leaving Biarritz, Cal, Brandon and I drove back to Barcelona, our departure point the next day. True to our streak, we found ourselves without a hotel, opting to sleep in the car. The following morning, after dropping off the car, we headed into the terminal for our flight to London.

Upon check-in, a hiccup surfaced when Brandon realized he had mistakenly booked his flight for the next day, leaving him stranded. Aware that my mom had arranged a hotel at the Heathrow Holiday Inn, we expected Ryan and Peter, who had received the email, to be there awaiting our arrival. Keep in mind Brandon had spent all of his money, he was stuck in the airport.

Cal and I landed at Heathrow, went outside to catch our shuttle. We asked the driver to take us to the Heathrow Holiday Inn, his reply was, “which one, there are five.” Damn, this will not end well.

Health on the Go

How many superfoods do you eat? Superfoods are nutrient-dense foods that are believed to provide significant health benefits due to their high levels of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other beneficial compounds. While the term "superfood" is not a scientific classification, it is commonly used to describe certain foods that are considered particularly beneficial for overall health and well-being. Here are some popular superfoods:

1. Berries: Berries like blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries are rich in antioxidants and vitamins. They are known to support brain health, boost the immune system, and have anti-inflammatory properties.

2. Leafy greens: Vegetables like kale, spinach, and Swiss chard are packed with vitamins, minerals, and fiber. They are low in calories and high in nutrients, contributing to overall health and aiding in digestion.

3. Avocado: Avocados are a good source of healthy fats, such as monounsaturated fats, which can help lower bad cholesterol levels. They are also rich in vitamins and minerals, including potassium, vitamin K, and vitamin E.

4. Quinoa: Quinoa is a complete protein and a great source of fiber, making it an excellent choice for plant-based protein. It is also rich in vitamins and minerals like magnesium, iron, and B vitamins.

5. Salmon: Salmon is a fatty fish that is high in omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to support heart health and reduce inflammation. It is also a good source of protein and other essential nutrients.

6. Chia seeds: Chia seeds are packed with fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants. They can help with digestion, promote satiety, and provide a good source of energy.

It's important to note that while superfoods can be beneficial, they should be consumed as part of a well-rounded and balanced diet. Incorporating a variety of nutrient-rich foods into your meals is key to obtaining the maximum health benefits.

Challenge yourself this week to try a superfood you haven't had yet or maybe don't incorporate as often! Happy and healthy travels!
